Indiana hunting seasons for furbearers.

  • There is a seasonal bag limit of 2 river otters per person; there are no daily bag or possession limits for the other species named above.
  • See Hunting and Trapping Guide for counties open to river otter trapping. Season may close earlier if statewide quota is reached.

Indiana hunting seasons for woodland big game.

Turkey hunting hours: ½ hour before sunrise to sunset.

Indiana hunting seasons for deer.

Deer hunting hours: ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.
*Deer Reduction Zones, previously called Urban Zones, are in designated locations only.
**Special Antlerless season only in counties with a bonus antlerless quota of 4 or more (See Hunting and Trapping Guide).
All harvested deer and turkey must be checked within 48 hours of harvest at an official check station or online at www.wildlife.in.gov.

Indiana hunting seasons for small and upland game.

  • The possession limit on pheasants, quail, rabbits, squirrels, frogs, and turtles is two times the daily bag limit.
    ** Quail bag limits vary on some DNR properties (see Hunting and Trapping Guide).
    ***Limit is singly or in aggregate. These species of turtles must have a carapace length of at least 12 inches.

Indiana hunting hours.

Turkey: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset (the hunting hours may differ on state-owned property — Wild Turkey).

Deer: One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.

Furbearer: Trapping/Hunting/Running: No restrictions.

Small Game: No hunting hours, except for rabbits on designated DNR properties in February (Small Game).

Waterfowl (ducks and geese): One-half hour before sunrise to sunset. Shooting hours may differ on state-owned property (Public Hunting Areas).
